We hear so much today about the health, wealth, and prosperity gospel, but in all reality, no such gospel actually exists. These things are definately products of - the fruits of, The Gospel of Grace with all of God's glorious promises of blessings.
So lets take a close look from God's point of view which never deletes blessings of prosperity, but which do come with qualifers. God will not prosper those who live in opposition to Him, who's hearts have been hardened against Him and who live in their own "self-righteousness." Oh yes, they may live with wealth and prosperity apart from Him, it happens to the bewilderment of the believer's misunderstanding of what is happening, but only God gives them the ability to enjoy such things.
"Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God." Then we have a contrast to one's enjoyment of God's blessings, the one who God does not allow to enjoy his wealth:
"God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the enjoyment of these things..."
God's teaching recaptured and applied to our lives, also have qualifers, such as the prosperity promised in Ps. 1, 1-3. In this Psalm we read about those whose delight is in the The Lord and who meditates on his law day and night that they "...are like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season. They are like a leaf does not withe nd whatever they do prospers.
But those who think they can buddy up with the enemies of God and who outright oppose Him, or who think all their self-devised positive energy a that might pat on the back these enemies of God, and reap themselves enjoyment of the promises of God regarding their health of mind, body, and spirit that includes financial prosperity as well, are in for a very rude awakening.
The set-apart kind of health, wealth and prosperity God desires for us, his children, comes with conditions such as: "He who dwells [with God]..." will also find rest, protection, and blessings in Him as well (Ps. 91).
Prosperity as a gift for the believer is found in numerous chapters and verses in Scripture as something every believer should grow to realize this is for them ! Never has God called a child of His to poverty and financial hardships, but if one's vision for their life is less than God's Vision for life - health, wealth and prosperity, then what we know and accept as the status quo, is often what we get. We are often accepting a substandard life that we are really not happy with yet pretending to be humble while lacking what God intended for us. Our lame viewpoints filled with deceptions from the pit of hell itself, also prevents us from becomig that blessing to others we'd like to be and which magnifies Christ, when deceptions consume us from even taking care of ourselves and our own needs.
It's very nice, as someone recent said, when we want to be that caregiver to a family member or other, yet unable to offer any kind of quality when we are giving out at the expense of taking care of ourselves in the process, meeting our own financial responsibilities as bills owed, food, clothing and just needs in general. Someone trying to save the whole world yet their own kids are lacking and for need, or their own needs sacrificed that prevent them from giving their best while handing out crumbs that really only put bandaids on those they try to help, is not in The Grace of God at all and cannot offer His Grace to others either.
They have not yet learned to allow God to bless them - first. Yes, allow, as many of us have been so transformed of God to have finally learned that receiving what God wants to give us is actually okay. It may be a fresh newness to our lives of places of rest that feed us health of mind, body and spirit, and these producing prosperity in our lives in many areas. The fruits of prosperity is not for a prosperity gospel as we have taged most messages of prosperity today, but because God's Amazing Grace, The Gospel of Grace which produces prosperity.
When we first understand that God originally planned for us to have an abundant life of prosperity and every good thing, more than we can contain, and we learn to grow in this understand, we then become a true insturment in His Hands for building up others with their needs, offering then hope when so many live today unjustly without hope of posible prosperity in all areas of their lives.
Yes, this was God's original plan for us, and IN Christ, we can and should be recovering lost ground in, even this way health, wealth, and prosperity.
It all begins in the mind. Until we realize that prosperity is not a bad thing but actually one of the by-products of God's Grace, The Gospel of Grace that will make us strong, firm and steadfast we cannot even begin to enjoy such a blessed life as God yearns for us to, just receive and accept, then He will begin the process that makes it happen. Should we not, all believers living IN CHRIST, be seeking such strength in all areas of our lives, and not less? Should not all our Christian Churches be praying and seeking God to make them strong in all areas, including financially?
Get under His Gospel of Grace. Study and then receive the abundance that Jesus paid in blood, for you and me to live and enjoy His Message of Grace and Abundance. Then and only the, are we effective in restoring long-lost hope to others for something better, those deceived to think their welfare status is just their fate, and that "there must be a reason," they believing and living deceptions like, "everything happens for a reason" kind of thinking.
Abraham was made wealthy so he could be a blessing, and not just a bandaid for those needing more to be made strong, stand on their own, and care for themselves easily. Today, as our world gets darker and darker, the church will grow stronger while dwelling under the Grace of God and made stronger and stronger for God's Blessings of health, wealth, and prosperity. His Bride, The Church, was never intended to be the tail and the worldly system of things, the head. Christ's Body, His Church and Mighty Warrior that is capable, with His Power, will take back what has been stolen from her, will recover what's hers and will demonstrate that authentic revival of heart and mind rooted in God's Word and The Gospel of Grace, is powerful to raise her up as desirable, no longer as feeble and a fine dinner for the preditor who preys on the weak.
"The Lord bless you, you prosperous city, you sacred mountain (Jer. 31:33)." God commends prosperity here, set-apart as a "sacred mountain" should be His Church, His Bride, which reflects who He is in all His Splendor and Glory.
"But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity." Now, from what I have seen over many years, decades actually regarding the word "meek," this is nothing to do with those living in a poverty kind of level of life, content with this substandare kind of living and attitude of heart and mind. The meek, would be likened to Pharoah's mares who were well-trained, worth a lot and these were kept in a place of royal palaces, groomed to perfection to do their trainers bidding and not less.
So, God says "the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity," these are those who have been trained in the righteousness of God, not their own "self-righteousness" that is apart from Him. These are those who will enjoy prosperity, God's Way, and one of His Ways is to inherit wells they did not did (wells were very valuable in ancient days and to find a deep well on some land purchased, was considered a great blessing of prosperity from God). Or, houses one did not buy at their own expense, barns filled with every thing one's heart could desire and sored up just for them. And this, is a wonderful picture of The Gospel of Grace and Prosperity applied today in 2017.
"With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity."
Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
Rom. 1:10 - "...a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you."
Paul prayed for a prosperous journey (what he meant by this is limited only by the limitations of the carnal mind), and for the reason of coming to the church in all the blessings of God He would spiritual gifts imparted and that would "establish" them. Here we have a picture that is is, indeed, God's Will for our churches to be made strong and established. God's "spiritual gifts" provide for this eternal unmatched by any worldly power, kind of gift imparted. And "a prosperous" journey which would meet all his needs is what Paul was praying for and seeking, would make the way smooth without delay for such a great and wonderful strength-builder he would be, and which our churches today could benefit well if we would first understand, that "prosperity" is not a bad word at all, but something need for strength.
As with all scripture and it's handling, the correct handling of God's Word is vital. Prosperity, health and wealth are not negatives or gifts we should only read about, but are those things we should even be praying for. The only negative about these blessings is how they are used, and for what motives. To place one's hope in them as was the problem Pastor Timothy was addressing (1Tim. 6:17), is a problem found even today. But he does go on to say, that God does provide us everything for our enjoyment as well. So never feel guilty if you are enjoying blessings God has provided you as you put your hope in Him, and not your wealth.
Lets be vigilent this New Year, and seek God for the "...fullness of His Blessings (Jn. 10:10). Let us also receive His Gospel of Grace and Prosperity with meekness and humility as He so desires from us, IN CHRIST.
