In John 11:35 we have a miracle of Jesus which clearly pointed to a higher law--the eternal law of compassion which received its first full expression in the life of Jesus and forms one of the distinctive features of the gospel.
Another time when Jesus went down to the Leprous colony and touched the hand a o man with leprosy, He again honored a higher law, the law of compassion and healed the man's hand. But the hypocrites of the day tried to pin Him to their laws of defilement such as touching something unclean as a person with leprosy or a dead person as with the widowed mother's son, would generally incur consequences, but with Jesus, everything he touched became clean.
And this is why the governor of the day, Pontius Pilot said: "I am innocent of this man's blood (Matt. 27:24)" and that the blood of this man would be on the people and their children who rioted with demands for the death of Jesus. No wrong was ever found in Him as the governor himself informed the chief priests, He didn't even get a fair trial. The trial Jesus got was at night and not a public trial as the law required of an accused one.
A study about the life of Pontius Pilot, and his life after Jesus was allowed to be crucified and this unjustly, is not a pretty picture.
This is the Jesus we will be remembering, once again and as we do yearly, the next week on Good Friday. What a message of suffering, injustice and ultimately amazing grace for all who will receive His Sacrifice and finished work on the cross. This "finished" work means, "paid in full." Our debt we owed, He paid in full.
If you have not yet received this Jesus who loved with His Life, you can do today. It is never too late. He is just waiting for you. All you need to do is pray a simple prayer and be willing to receive Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your life, fully surrendering to Him and His Will for you. He has only the very best in mind for your life, a plan for you as you get on the right track. Those of us who have walked close with Him for years have not one regret as continue to grow and KNOW HIM more each day, transformed so that we can receive His fullness of life and blessings He has designed us for. And you are called to the same as you give your heart to Him today.
